“I feel things deeply. I just don’t rush about it.”

The Hall as Philosophy: A Wet Wednesday Proof

The Hall as Philosophy: A Wet Wednesday Proof

The rain started mid-morning and has not reconsidered.

Dad’s in the studio. Gus is on the family room sofa. I have covered the length of the hall three times at a speed that alarmed everyone, including me.

The squeaker was involved. I am not sorry.

There is a specific sound wet ponderosas make through the doggy door — not rain exactly, more like the yard thinking out loud. I have registered this. I have also registered that the trail to Good Dog Park is under water and nobody is putting on shoes.

The zoomies are not frustration. They are conclusion. If the world is not coming to us, the hall is thirty feet long and available.

Gus watched from the sofa with the expression of a dog who has made his peace with things. I respect it. It is not my way.
