The Ball Returns, But Never to Me

The Ball Returns, But Never to Me

The ball goes over the net. Then back. Then over. Then back.

No one brings it to me.

It is 06:10. It is 8°C. The US Open is on the television and I have been watching it for what feels like several geological epochs and I have yet to understand the decision not to throw the ball.

They hit it. Back. Then over. The other one hits it. THEN BACK.

I have a system. The ball leaves the hand. I run. The ball is retrieved. This is a complete thought. This is a sentence with a subject and a verb and a resolution. What is happening on that screen is a run-on sentence and nobody is stopping it.

Throw. The ball. Please.

I know where three are. Right now. I could tell you exactly.

They are not on a court.
